Pip

The other day I posted a long entry about how our newest darling, Pip, came to live with us. However, the Internet Gods seems to have done away with it.

Rather than repost all the long details, I will just say she is a total delight. When I look at her and realize that they were going to put her down that afternoon, I know that she deserved better than that.

4th Of July Weekend

Funny how things work out sometimes. We had plans for this 4th of July weekend, but they didn't end up as we thought. Still in the end, it was a good weekend.

Joe's parents were having a "clam bake" at their house on Saturday, and that was our main planned outing. However, as soon as we got there his Dad started yelling and screaming at us. I don't really know what was up his ass, but we didn't want to spend the holiday in that atmosphere, so we left almost as soon as we arrived. We didn't even have a chance to sit down! We got there, got out of the truck and he started.

We decided that we would just go home and have our own...so we stopped at the store and picked up clams, salt potatoes and corn on the cob. We also rented some movies. We thought that was going to be the extent of our "partying".

On Sunday we just hung out at home. We took the 3-wheeler around a bit, and just hung out in the yard for the most part. It was an enjoyable day and a reminder that we don't have to *do* something to enjoy our time together.

We didn't have any plans for Monday. Rich called in the morning and told us he and Mary were coming up to the lake with their party barge. We walked down to the lake and he picked us up. Stewie and Mary's mom were with them. He had said he just planned to drift around the lake. It ended up some people he knew were at a beach on the other side of the lake, so we stayed there for the day. The beach was on the state park side of the lake and I liked it much better than our beach. The water didn't drop off as fast and it wasn't as rocky as our beach. I am glad we discovered it. I think when we want to spend the day at the beach again we will go there. We will just use our beach for quick dips.

It was fun. There were A LOT of people there, and I only knew a handful, but it was still a good time. Joe went out on a tube and even tried water skiing. He had never done it before and I told him it was harder than it looked. He tried twice. The first time he just started to get up and his legs split and he fell. The second time one of the skis fell off before he even got out of the water. I took a few pictures, but he was up and down so fast, I don't think I got anything except his head bobbing in the water.

We both got a bit of a sun burn, but it isn't too serious. My arms are already starting to turn from red to brown. My shoulders are burned though, and it is rather painful. I had a hard time sleeping because of it.

All in all it was an enjoyable weekend with gorgeous weather. This morning we got some rain, but the sun is out again. It might rain again later though. I think this has been one of the best summers we have had in years.
